The former Barbour County Sheriff who pled guilty this summer to felony ethics violations has been sentenced. On Thursday Leroy Upshaw was sentenced to 3 years in Barbour County Community Corrections. He must also pay a $30,000 fine. Court documents say during his over 20 years as sheriff, Upshaw wrote himself checks from the sheriff’s office bank account totaling over $32,000.
