DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — The National Weather Service in Tallahassee issued a flood watch at 1:37 a.m. CDT Friday for Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston counties.
The watch takes effect at 1 p.m. CDT Friday and continues through 7 p.m. CDT Saturday.
It also includes Jackson, Holmes, Washington, Walton and other Florida Panhandle counties, along with portions of southwest Georgia.
According to the alert, Hurricane Isaias is expected to bring bands of heavy rain, with widespread totals of 4 to 8 inches. Some areas could receive 10 to 15 inches.
Recent rainfall has already saturated the ground. The weather service says flash flooding is expected, with considerable flash flooding possible where heavy rain repeatedly moves over the same area.
Rivers, creeks, streets and low-lying areas could flood. Areas with poor drainage are also at risk.
Stay weather aware and never drive through flooded roads.
