New Dothan Lung Health Center Breaks Ground

Groundbreaking of Lung Health Center Coming to Dothan (SE Health)

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Southeast Health and Pulmonary Associates broke ground Thursday on a new Lung Health Center in Southeast Health’s Medical Park.

According to Southeast Health, the center will be located at 300 Medical Park Boulevard. It is a joint venture between Southeast Health and Pulmonary Associates.

Pulmonary Associates, the region’s largest group of board-certified pulmonologists and advanced practice providers, will move its clinic to the new center.

The facility will bring pulmonary medicine, sleep medicine, advanced imaging, diagnostic testing and other respiratory services together in one location.

Officials said the center is expected to provide faster access to services, smoother coordination among providers and a more connected approach to diagnosis and treatment.

The center will also include a 10-bed sleep center owned and operated by Southeast Health. It will expand access to diagnostic and treatment services for patients with sleep-related conditions.

“The Lung Health Center is designed to be a center of excellence: a place where advanced pulmonary and sleep medicine come together in one coordinated, patient-centered setting,” Pulmonary Associates’ Dr. Marvin Sexton said. “The center will support and expand the programs we are already building regarding the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer, interstitial lung disease, bronchiectasis, asthma, COPD, sleep disorders, and the full spectrum of pulmonary care.”

Southeast Health CEO Rick Sutton said the project will build on the health system’s relationship with Pulmonary Associates.

“The opening of the Lung Health Center continues to strengthen our relationship with the physicians of Pulmonary Associates,” Sutton said. “We are excited to welcome them to this new development in the Medical Park, and we look forward to a successful partnership that will enhance care for patients throughout our region.”

The 39-acre Medical Park is located behind the east-side Aldi on Ross Clark Circle and across from Southeast Health Medical Center. The development is accessible from Ross Clark Circle and East Main Street, also known as U.S. Highway 84 East.
