Peanut Festival Warns Vendors About Payment Scam

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — The National Peanut Festival is warning vendors about scammers posing as festival representatives through social media messages and emails.

A Dothan resident contacted WDNews after receiving an email asking for money for a vendor space. Festival officials said scammers are falsely telling people they have been approved and requesting payment through Cash App, Venmo or PayPal.

All legitimate vendor approvals and invoices are sent through EventHub. Payments must be made by credit card through the secure EventHub website or in person at the National Peanut Festival office.

The festival does not accept vendor payments through Cash App, Venmo or PayPal.

Anyone who receives a questionable email or social media message should not send money or provide personal information. Vendors are encouraged to call the festival office at 334-793-4323 to verify any payment request.
