DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Several Twice Daily and Southern Traders convenience stores across the Wiregrass are included in a deal that will give Shell full ownership of their parent company, Tri Star Energy.
Shell announced Tuesday that Equilon Enterprises LLC, doing business as Shell Oil Products US, has signed an agreement to increase its ownership of Tri Star Energy from 33% to 100%.
Tri Star operates the Twice Daily and Southern Traders brands, which have locations in the Wiregrass, including stores in Dothan, Enterprise, Ozark and Abbeville.
The acquisition will give Shell full ownership of an additional 320 fuel and convenience retail locations across Tennessee and surrounding states. Shell will also gain supply agreements with 552 dealer-owned locations.

The transaction is fully aligned with our growth strategy to focus capital on businesses in which we have distinctive advantages and can create long-term shareholder value,” said Machteld de Haan, president of Downstream, Renewables and Energy Solutions at Shell.
Shell already owns a 33% interest in Tri Star. Under the agreement, Shell will acquire the remaining interest from The Parman Corporation, Kimbro Oil Company and their subsidiaries.
Once the acquisition is complete, Tri Star Energy will be operated by Texas Petroleum Group LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shell Mobility & Convenience US LLC.
Shell said its U.S. convenience retail portfolio will then include nearly 550 company-owned locations and supply agreements with about 650 dealer-owned locations across the southern United States.
Shell currently has approximately 12,000 branded fuel and convenience retail locations across 49 states, although most are owned by wholesalers and dealers.
The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, pending regulatory approval and other closing conditions.
