DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Applications are now open for the 2027 Energy Southeast Power Up Scholarship Program, with Dothan students among those who may be eligible.
According to the City of Dothan, Energy Southeast and its members have awarded more than $3.6 million in scholarships since 1992 to graduating high school seniors whose families receive electric service from an Energy Southeast member.
Dothan is one of the participating member communities. Others include Alexander City, Fairhope, LaFayette, Lanett, Luverne, Opelika, Piedmont, Riviera Utilities and Sylacauga.
To qualify, an applicant must be a graduating high school senior whose parent or legal guardian receives electric service from an Energy Southeast member utility.
Students must also plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university, community college, or vocational or trade school in Alabama.
Energy Southeast says up to 44 scholarships worth $2,500 each may be awarded. Each member city or utility may provide two scholarships for students attending a four-year college or university and two for students pursuing a community college, vocational or trade school program.
“All scholarship application materials, including required attachments, must be received by Energy Southeast by February 12, 2027. Applications that are incomplete or received after the deadline will not be considered,” according to Energy Southeast.
Required materials include a high school transcript, ACT or SAT score certificate, résumé, two letters of recommendation and a copy of the family’s most recent electric bill.
Applications may be submitted online or by paper application. The deadline is Feb. 12, 2027.
