WAUSAU, Fla. (WDNews) — Firefighters will put their skills and teamwork to the test during the third annual Washington County Fire Games.
According to Washington County Fire Services, the Fire Games will be held Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Wausau Possum Palace. Opening ceremonies begin at 6 p.m.
The event brings firefighters together for a night of friendly competition while also remembering and honoring the heroes of Sept. 11, 2001.
“Grab your partner and get ready for a night of friendly firefighter competition, teamwork, skill, and FUN as we come together to remember and honor the heroes of September 11, 2001,” Washington County Fire Services said.
Teams consist of two firefighters. This year’s competitions include a PPE relay, bucket brigade, Make a Line and water polo.
Families and community members are encouraged to attend and cheer on the firefighters. Admission and parking are free.
“Bring your family. Bring your friends. Come cheer on your favorite firefighters and enjoy a night of friendly competition under the lights,” Washington County Fire Services said.
Firefighter registration is open through Sept. 1, according to the latest post from Washington County Fire Services. Space is limited.
