BARBOUR COUNTY, Ala. (WDNews) — A Florida woman was killed and another passenger was injured in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in Barbour County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The crash happened around 4:23 a.m. Aug. 29 on U.S. 82 near the 221 mile marker, about seven miles east of Midway.
According to ALEA, Simeon Onnette, 46, of Lauderhill, Florida, was a passenger in a 2004 Toyota Sienna driven by Josue Joseph, 35, of Union Springs.
Troopers said the van left the roadway, struck a ditch and a tree, and then overturned.
Onnette was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another passenger, Jean-Charles Fausnert, 44, of Leominster, Massachusetts, was injured and taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.
No additional details have been released.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the crash.
