Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WDNews) — A traffic stop early Thursday morning led to the arrest of a Riverview man on multiple charges, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said they initiated the traffic stop around 5:10 a.m. Aug. 13 and made contact with the driver, identified as 42-year-old Monico Carmona.

During the investigation, deputies determined Carmona was driving while his license was suspended or revoked.

According to the sheriff’s office, Carmona asked deputies to retrieve a bag from inside the vehicle. During a search of the bag, deputies found items they believed to be illegal drugs.

Carmona was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail.

He faces a charge of driving while license suspended or revoked and two counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

Washington County Jail records also list Carmona as being booked Thursday.
