DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Wiregrass Gives is celebrating five years of serving the Wiregrass community, marking a milestone that reflects the nonprofit organization’s mission of providing hope, compassion and practical support to those in need.
Founded in 2021 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Wiregrass Gives was created with the goal of finding creative ways to bridge gaps in the community rather than operating as a traditional nonprofit. The organization has focused on bringing people together to develop meaningful solutions and provide assistance where it is needed most.
That vision also led to the creation of the Wiregrass Stampede Rodeo, a community event designed not only to entertain but also to raise support for local residents facing difficult circumstances.
Over the past five years, Wiregrass Gives has assisted children and families experiencing hardship, veterans, individuals experiencing homelessness, people in need of vital documents and identification, and community members facing unexpected challenges.
Organization leaders said those efforts would not have been possible without the support of volunteers, donors, sponsors, businesses, community partners, board members and Junior Board members who have contributed to the mission over the years.
Adding to the celebration, Wiregrass Gives announced it was recently nominated for the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce’s Non-Profit of the Year award during the 2026 Wiregrass Stampede Rodeo.
Leaders said the nomination is an honor and reflects the impact that can be made when a community comes together to serve others.
As the organization celebrates its fifth anniversary, Wiregrass Gives says it remains committed to expanding its mission and continuing to build bridges of hope throughout the Wiregrass for years to come.
