DOTHAN, Ala. — An 18-year-old man was injured in a shooting Sunday evening in Dothan, according to initial Dothan Public Safety reports.
The incident began around 6:30 p.m. when authorities were dispatched to the area of Chickasaw Street for a report of shots fired in progress. The call was quickly upgraded to a firearm assault.
Initial reports indicate the 18-year-old victim suffered a gunshot wound to the back. The victim was reportedly sitting inside a vehicle when gunfire struck him.
When officers arrived, the victim had already been transported to a local hospital by a woman who was at the scene. His condition has not been released.
Preliminary information indicates the shots were fired from another vehicle. Investigators located at least one shell casing near the intersection of Chickasaw Street and Wheat Street.
No suspect information has been released.
