DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Many in our community have experienced or know someone who is struggling. Resources are available, and this upcoming event is a good place to start for anyone looking to learn more about suicide prevention and how to help others.
“From Awareness to Action: A Wiregrass Suicide Prevention Education & Training Day” will be held Thursday, July 23, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Alfred Saliba Family Services Center in Dothan.
The free event will feature two training sessions:
Talk Saves Lives, presented by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Alabama, will focus on suicide facts, risk factors, warning signs and ways communities can help prevent suicide.
QPR Suicide Prevention Training, presented by ASPARC, will teach participants how to Question, Persuade and Refer someone who may be at risk and connect them with appropriate help.
The event is free and open to the public, and lunch will be provided.
The training is presented through a collaborative effort between the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Alabama, ASPARC and The Uncarried. Registration is available using the QR code or registration link provided on the event flyer.
