DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — As rain and thunderstorms move across the Wiregrass, drivers are urged to use extra caution while traveling.
WDNews has already received multiple reports of trees down across area roadways as storms begin moving through the region. Heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and reduced visibility are creating hazardous driving conditions in some locations.
Local law enforcement agencies and Emergency Management Agencies across the Wiregrass are currently on storm status and monitoring conditions as the weather system moves through the area. Crews are responding to reports of downed trees, roadway hazards, and other weather-related incidents.
Motorists should slow down, allow extra travel time, and remain alert for debris, standing water, and fallen trees that may block portions of roadways. Officials also remind drivers to never attempt to drive through flooded roads, as water depth can be difficult to determine.
Weather conditions are expected to continue changing throughout the day and evening as additional showers and thunderstorms move through the area.
