HARTFORD, Ala. — Hartford police are asking residents to use caution after a black bear was spotted in the area of Sixth Avenue and Lily Street.
According to the Hartford Police Department, officers are actively tracking the bear and monitoring its movements.
Residents who live in the area are encouraged to remain inside their homes if possible and avoid the area until further notice.
Police said the bear has not harmed anyone and does not appear to be aggressive. However, officials are asking the public to keep a safe distance and not attempt to approach, follow or interact with the animal.
Anyone who spots the bear near homes, businesses or areas where people are present is asked to contact law enforcement immediately and report its location.
