DOTHAN,Ala (WDNews) — Dothan City Schools has announced its 2025–2026 Teachers of the Year, recognizing educators who will represent their schools and compete for the district title.
Each school-level honoree is now a nominee for District Teacher of the Year, which will represent Dothan City Schools in the Alabama Teacher of the Year Program. The statewide program annually honors excellence in the teaching profession by recognizing outstanding classroom teachers at local, district and state levels.
The 2025–2026 school Teachers of the Year are:

Tonya Everett, Beverlye Intermediate School
Jessica Freeman, Carver School for Math, Science and Technology Elementary School
Lauren Couch, Selma Street Elementary School
Coretha Laurent, Dothan 6th Grade Academy
Tyreece Mayo, Dothan Preparatory Academy
Lisa Peacock, Carver 9th Grade Academy
Josh Odom, Dothan High School
James Kingry, Dothan Technology Center

The district’s Teacher of the Year will be announced Feb. 17, 2026, during the Dothan City Schools Board of Education meeting.
