(WDNews) – A special agent with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s SWAT team was shot during an officer-involved incident Wednesday afternoon in Montgomery.
According to ALEA, the shooting happened around 5:51 p.m. Wednesday in the 4000 block of Longleaf Drive in Montgomery County.
Officials said the agent was struck by gunfire while ALEA SWAT members and officers assigned to the Metro Area Crime Suppression Unit were working an enforcement detail in the area.
The injured agent was taken to a local hospital for treatment. No information has been released about the agent’s condition.
Authorities said the case remains under active investigation. No additional details were available as of Wednesday night.
ALEA officials asked for prayers and support for the agent, the agent’s family and members of the agency as the investigation continues.
