WASHINGTON (WDNews) – President Donald Trump has pushed back the deadline for TikTok in the United States until Dec. 16, 2025, allowing more time to finalize a proposed agreement on the app’s future.
The extension, issued Tuesday by executive order, is the fourth time Trump has delayed enforcement of a law requiring TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to sell its U.S. operations to an American firm or face a nationwide ban. The original deadline was Jan. 19, one day before Trump began his second term.
Trump said Tuesday he plans to speak with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday about the deal announced earlier this week. He added that several companies are considering purchasing TikTok, with details on possible buyers expected to be shared soon.
