ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDNews) — Fashion and community spirit will collide on July 15 as the “Catwalk for a Cause” charity fashion show lights up the runway at The Rawls Restaurant in Enterprise.
The show begins at 6 p.m. and aims to raise money for Coffee County Family Services, helping hundreds of local children prepare for the upcoming school year with essential supplies and clothing.
“This is more than just a fashion show,” said Dawn Sabath, executive chef at The Rawls and one of the event’s coordinators. “It’s a way for our community to come together, celebrate creativity, and make a real difference for Coffee County Family Services.”
The event falls just before Alabama’s Tax-Free Weekend and will feature trendy looks from local downtown boutiques, including outfits for working women, moms, and back-to-school gear for kids.
Guests will walk the red carpet, receive a goodie bag, and enjoy photo ops and fun extras throughout the evening.
Tickets are $10, and seating is limited. All proceeds will benefit Coffee County Family Services Center (CCFS), which supports families facing hardship.
Judy Crowley, Executive Director of CCFS, said the center expects to assist around 800 children this year. “About 100 children will need school clothes, and the others will receive socks, shoes, undergarments, toiletries and backpacks with school supplies,” she said.
Crowley noted that the need is great, with over 2,600 school-aged children living in poverty in Coffee County and more than 350 classified as homeless.
“Families with limited income often face decisions such as keeping the lights on or putting food on the table,” she said. “The average school supply list will cost each family an average of $50 per child so providing these school items is impossible for many families.
“Sending a child to school with the right resources sends the message to them: ‘You matter. We have high expectations of you. You can do it.’”
Crowley added, “Something seemingly as simple as a pencil and paper has a tremendous impact on a child’s success in the classroom.”
