DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Southeast Health Medical Center has received national recognition for its efforts to publicly report information about patient safety and quality.
The hospital earned the Leapfrog Full Transparency Badge for voluntarily providing detailed information through the Leapfrog Hospital Survey. Southeast Health has also earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade for three consecutive reporting periods.
According to Southeast Health, only 21 hospitals in Alabama received the Full Transparency distinction.
The badge is awarded to hospitals that complete, affirm and submit all sections of the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, a voluntary program focused on patient safety, quality and transparency.
“One of the most important lessons in Southeast Health’s patient safety and quality improvement journey is that transparency drives improvement. When we shine a light on opportunities to do better, we empower our teams to learn, adapt and take action. Visibility creates focus, leading to safer care, better outcomes and greater trust,” Southeast Health CEO Rick Sutton said.
Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, also praised the hospital’s participation.

By fully participating in the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, Southeast Health is helping patients and families access meaningful information about the safety and quality of their care.”
The Full Transparency Badge appears on Leapfrog’s public ratings website and identifies hospitals that have committed to openly sharing information about their performance.
