DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — The City of Dothan is reminding residents to make plans to attend its America 250 celebration on Saturday, July 4, from 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in downtown Dothan.
City officials say the event will be the largest downtown celebration in Dothan’s history, commemorating America’s 250th birthday with a full day of live entertainment, family activities, history, art, food, and a first-of-its-kind drone light show.
The celebration will take place along Foster Street and Saint Andrews Street and will feature live performances by Solon Holt, Benny G, Dcovan Mathews, Gage Cowart, and Noah Swanson.
Visitors can also enjoy more than 30 food, retail, and farm vendors, a Kids Fun Zone, hands-on exhibits from Landmark Park, and a Presidential Exhibit Hall featuring a replica of the Oval Office and other presidential memorabilia.
Additional attractions include free children’s crafts, face painting, Touch-A-Truck, a community-painted patriotic mural, and a classic car show celebrating American history and innovation.
The evening will conclude with a 300-drone light show presented by the Mike Schmitz Family. According to the city, the display will feature patriotic images and storytelling in what officials describe as a first-of-its-kind experience for Dothan.
To help accommodate the large crowds expected, additional parking will be available at Porter Square Mall, located at 890 W. Main St. Free shuttle service will run throughout the event between the mall and the downtown celebration.
City officials encourage residents and visitors to bring their families and friends and take part in the historic community celebration honoring America’s past, present, and future.
