DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) – The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a Special Weather Statement for portions of southeast Alabama, northwest Florida, and southwest Georgia as strong thunderstorms move through the area Wednesday morning.
At 9:38 a.m. CDT, Doppler radar indicated storms stretching from north of Bonifay, Fla., to east of Chipley and southwest of Marianna. The storms were moving northeast at about 25 mph and could bring wind gusts up to 40 mph.
Forecasters warn the gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured outdoor items.
Communities that may be impacted include Dothan, Cottonwood, Slocomb, Rehobeth, Taylor, Malvern, Madrid, and nearby areas, as well as parts of Washington, Holmes, and Jackson counties in Florida.
Residents are urged to monitor weather updates and use caution until the storms pass.
