Karoline Leavitt To Leave White House Press Secretary Role

WASHINGTON — White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave her position at the end of August and transition to a role as a top outside adviser to President Donald Trump.

Trump announced Leavitt’s upcoming departure Wednesday on Truth Social, saying she is leaving the White House role to spend more time with her family.

Leavitt gave birth to her second child, a daughter, in May and recently returned to the White House following maternity leave.

Trump described Leavitt as “one of my most trusted aides” and said she will continue working with him as an outside adviser.

Leavitt has served as White House press secretary since Trump began his second term in January 2025. White House records listed her as assistant to the president and press secretary as of July 1.

Trump did not announce who will replace Leavitt or who will handle the press secretary’s duties in the interim.
