Jackson County, Fla. (WDNews) – A suspected burglar was arrested Friday after leading law enforcement on a multi-county chase that began near Bascom, Florida and crossed into Houston County, Ala.
Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary in progress on July 25. Upon arrival, they spotted a white male suspect fleeing the scene on foot. Despite verbal commands to stop, the suspect jumped into a vehicle and took off.
A pursuit followed across roadways in Jackson County and into Alabama. The suspect eventually reentered Jackson County, where deputies safely ended the chase using a pursuit intervention technique near Gordon Road and Highway 2.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident. Multiple charges related to the burglary and pursuit are pending.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Sneads Police Department and the Houston County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
“Anyone who victimizes our citizens will be pursued and brought to justice,” Sheriff Donnie Edenfield stated.
