JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WDNews) — A Jackson County sheriff’s deputy has been arrested following an alleged off-duty dispute, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office said its 911 communications center received a call Thursday regarding a dispute involving off-duty Deputy Kody Gilbert.
Following an investigation into the allegations, Gilbert was arrested and charged with one count of battery.
Gilbert has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation into the off-duty incident continues.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office addressed the arrest in a statement Thursday.
“The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office does not condone misconduct of any kind. We take allegations seriously,” the agency said.
The Sheriff’s Office said the case remains an active investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
JCSO also reminded anyone who is a victim of a crime that victim advocates are available to provide support, guidance and connections to resources.
