WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. — According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a Panama City man is facing multiple felony drug charges after deputies said he ran from a traffic stop in Vernon.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Dawkins Street at about 6:17 p.m. Sept. 30. According to the sheriff’s office, the vehicle pulled into a residence and continued moving slowly before coming to a stop.

Investigators said the right rear passenger door opened and a man got out of the vehicle. Deputies ordered him to stop, but authorities said he continued running.

The man was later identified as 39-year-old Wallace Anthony Blakeman.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies used a department-issued Taser to stop and detain Blakeman.

During the foot pursuit, authorities said Blakeman discarded several illegal items from a fanny pack he was wearing. Deputies then searched Blakeman and the vehicle and reported finding additional methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

The other occupants of the vehicle were released from the scene.

Blakeman was taken to the Washington County Jail and booked on charges of possession of cocaine, trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, destroying evidence and resisting an officer without violence.
