WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WDNews) — Firefighters rescued a dog from a burning mobile home Sunday morning while crews worked to keep the flames from spreading through the residence.
According to the Washington County Fire Department, crews were dispatched around 9:51 a.m. Sept. 28 to a structure fire near the 3600 block of Highway 79.
Engine 40 arrived about 15 minutes later and found light smoke coming from the eaves of the mobile home. Firefighters immediately deployed an attack line and entered the home to conduct a primary search in heavy smoke.
During the search, firefighters found and rescued a dog from inside the home. The department said the dog was doing well at the scene.
Crews continued searching the home and found a bathroom heavily involved in fire. Firefighters were able to contain the flames to the bathroom and prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the residence.
“WCFD would like to thank all of the responding departments and units who assisted on scene. Your teamwork and quick response were instrumental in bringing the incident under control,” the department said.
No injuries were reported in the department’s update.
