DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Drivers traveling through downtown Dothan should prepare for lane closures and possible delays this week as work continues at the intersection of Main Street and Oates Street.
Beginning the week of Monday, Sept. 28, construction will move to the southeast and southwest corners of the intersection.
The outside eastbound lane of Main Street will be closed from the public parking area west of Oates Street to just east of the intersection.
The outside northbound lane of Oates Street will also be closed from north of Crawford Street to Main Street.
According to the City of Dothan, daytime lane closures are expected Monday through Thursday, generally between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Portable message boards, arrow boards and signs will be used to direct traffic through the work zone. Commercial truck traffic should use Ross Clark Circle.
The work is part of the Main Street and Oates Street Intersection Improvement Project, which includes a new traffic signal and pedestrian improvements. Construction began Sept. 21 and is expected to take about six weeks.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes, expect delays and use caution around construction crews.
Additional lane closure updates will be released as the project continues.
