DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Students at The Carver School for Mathematics, Science and Technology will get a hands-on look at engineering Friday during a special visit from Auburn University, according to Dothan City Schools.

Students will work with representatives from Auburn University’s Samuel Ginn College of Engineering on Friday, Sept. 18.

During the activity, students will build small robots called “Scribble Bots” using motors and drawing materials. As the motor vibrates, the robot moves across paper and creates its own patterns and designs.

Students will be able to experiment with their robots and make adjustments to see how different designs affect their movement and drawings.

According to Dothan City Schools, the activity is designed to introduce engineering concepts through creativity, problem-solving and experimentation while giving students an opportunity to explore STEM outside a traditional classroom setting.
