ATLANTA, Ga. (WDNews) — An AMBER Alert has been issued for two young sisters who Atlanta police believe were abducted by their babysitter, with authorities searching for a vehicle carrying an Alabama license plate.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, 11-month-old Norah Cooper and 4-year-old Zola Cooper were last seen with their babysitter, identified as Lakesha Brown. Police said Brown is believed to have abducted the children.
Authorities believe Brown and the children may be traveling in a 2009 white Ford F-350 with Alabama tag IC087Y4.
The children were last seen in the area of Jones Avenue Northwest and James P. Brawley Drive Northwest in Atlanta.
Zola is 4 years old, about 3 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 42 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a multicolored dress.
Norah is 11 months old, about 2 feet tall and weighs approximately 28 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a pink onesie. Police said Norah is missing the index and middle fingers on her right hand.
According to Atlanta News First, police identified Brown as 42 years old. She is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
The Atlanta Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is investigating.
