WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — Authorities are continuing to search for a woman wanted on a murder charge in Walton County who investigators say has ties to lower Alabama.
According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Isabelle Johnson, 38, is wanted on an active warrant for an open count of murder in connection with the killing of Jason Coulthart, 43.
Coulthart’s remains were discovered June 25 on a property off Sunset Lane in Freeport. The sheriff’s office said the discovery followed information received from the Niceville Police Department after Coulthart was reported missing in late May.
Five people have been arrested on charges of accessory after the fact to a capital felony as investigators continue efforts to locate Johnson. Authorities said Johnson has been actively evading law enforcement.
Johnson is described as a white woman who is approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. Authorities said she is known to use several identities and aliases, including Harley, Jessica Elaine Bowman, Jessica Elaine Thrush, Jessica Elaine Thrash, Jessica Dowdy and possibly “Denise.”
The sheriff’s office said Johnson has ties to Okaloosa and Walton counties in Florida, along with several areas in Georgia and lower Alabama.
According to investigators, Johnson frequently changes locations and may convince others to help her by telling sympathetic stories involving domestic violence or other personal hardships.
Investigators believe Johnson may have recently dyed and cut her hair to change her appearance.
Authorities said Johnson has several distinctive tattoos, including a rose or flower tattoo on her left hand, a tattoo of an unknown design on her right ankle and a large scorpion tattoo extending from her left buttock down her left thigh.
Up to $16,000 in reward money is being offered for information leading to Johnson’s capture.
Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers and the Florida Sheriffs Association Criminal Apprehension Assistance Program are jointly offering $11,000. The sheriff’s office said tipsters providing information through Crime Stoppers can remain completely anonymous, and the tip must lead to Johnson’s arrest to qualify for the reward.
The U.S. Marshals Task Force is offering an additional $5,000 reward. According to the sheriff’s office, that reward has specific requirements and does not allow anonymity for someone seeking to claim it. Personal information provided will be kept confidential.
