DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — According to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies will once again join officers with the Dothan Police Department for the annual Tip-A-Cop fundraiser benefiting Special Olympics Alabama.
The event will be held Thursday, July 30, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Texas Roadhouse in Dothan.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies and police officers will step away from their normal duties, put on aprons and serve guests to help raise money for Special Olympics Alabama.
“The Houston County Sheriff’s Office is proud to join forces again with the Dothan Police Department for this year’s Tip-A-Cop event benefiting Special Olympics Alabama!”
The fundraiser is part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. Donations collected during the event will support year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities across Alabama.
Organizers are encouraging the community to enjoy a meal, meet local law enforcement officers and support the cause.
“Come enjoy a great meal, meet your local law enforcement officers, and help support Special Olympics Alabama. Every donation helps provide year-round sports training, athletic competition, and life-changing opportunities for these athletes.”
The sheriff’s office also invited families and friends to attend.
“Bring your family, invite your friends, and come have some fun with us. Whether you’re there for a hand-cut steak, fresh-baked rolls, or just to support a worthy cause, your generosity will make a lasting impact.”
Officials acknowledged they may not have restaurant experience but said they are committed to making a difference.
“We may not be professional waiters, but we’ll do our best—and every tip and donation helps change lives.”
The sheriff’s office added, “We look forward to serving you alongside our friends at the Dothan Police Department. Together, let’s make this year’s Tip-A-Cop the biggest one yet!”
