DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — According to the Dothan Police Department, a man has been arrested on multiple charges after investigators said a woman reported being falsely imprisoned and sexually abused following a ride from Ozark to Dothan.
Police said officers met with the victim on June 6, 2026, after she reported the incident occurred near the intersection of South Park Avenue and Selma Street.
According to investigators, the victim knew the suspect, identified as Edward Gamalier Morena Guevara, as an acquaintance who drove for a ride-share service. Police said the victim also knew Guevara would provide rides outside of the ride-share platform. On June 6, the victim accepted a ride from Ozark to a residence in Dothan.
According to the Dothan Police Department, Guevara stopped near the residence and pulled into a parking lot, where investigators say he requested sexual favors and refused to let the victim leave the vehicle until she complied. Police said the victim initially refused, and Guevara continued driving around the area and passed the victim’s residence several times.
According to investigators, the victim later complied with the request so she could leave the vehicle safely. Once she was able to leave, she contacted police.
After an investigation, police said arrest warrants were obtained two days later. Investigators attempted to locate Guevara at the address on file but were unsuccessful.
According to the Dothan Police Department, Guevara was located in Huntsville on July 19, 2026, and arrested on the outstanding warrants.
Guevara is charged with first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, and indecent exposure. He was transported to the Houston County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
