DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Motorists traveling along U.S. Highway 84 in Dothan and Cowarts should prepare for traffic delays beginning Monday as the Alabama Department of Transportation begins a major resurfacing project.
The approximately $8.1 million project includes resurfacing and new traffic striping along two sections of U.S. 84. Work will take place from Ross Clark Circle to Health Sciences Boulevard in Dothan and from Jester Street to Broad Street in Cowarts. Construction is expected to continue into the winter months, weather permitting.
Drivers should expect periodic lane closures, reduced speeds and possible delays throughout the work zone. Motorists are urged to slow down, remain alert for construction crews and equipment, and obey all posted speed limits to help keep workers and travelers safe.
ALDOT encourages motorists to allow extra travel time and use caution when traveling through the affected areas while the resurfacing project is underway.
