DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — A new chapter in Dothan’s arts scene will take center stage later this month as the city hosts its first-ever Shakespeare in the Park performance.
The Southeast Alabama Community Theatre (SEACT) will present William Shakespeare’s classic comedy As You Like It on Friday, June 26, at 7 p.m. at Porter Park Events Plaza.
The free outdoor event will combine live theater with local music, creating an evening of entertainment for residents and visitors alike. Musical performances by The Dothan Moonlighters and Reid Williams will accompany the production, adding a local touch to one of Shakespeare’s most popular works.
Food vendors will begin serving at 5 p.m., giving attendees an opportunity to enjoy dinner before the performance begins.
Organizers say the event is designed to be family-friendly and welcoming to both longtime Shakespeare enthusiasts and those experiencing his work for the first time.
Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and settle in for an evening under the stars as Dothan celebrates a historic first with its inaugural Shakespeare in the Park presentation.
The event is free and open to the public.
