BONIFAY, Fla. (WDNews) — Bonifay Fire-Rescue is asking the community to come together in support of one of its own as Sabrina Porter faces a battle with cancer.
According to Bonifay Fire-Rescue, Porter has been a longtime part of the department’s extended fire family and has supported firefighters in numerous ways over the years. Officials said she has consistently helped with community events, including ordering and distributing candy for the department’s rodeo parade activities.
The Porter family has deep ties to Bonifay Fire-Rescue. Sabrina’s husband, Darrell Porter, and their son, Dillon Porter, are both members of the department’s fire family.
“Now, it’s time for us to support them,” Bonifay Fire-Rescue said in a social media post.
To help the family during this difficult time, Bonifay Fire-Rescue will host a Sabrina Strong Steak Sandwich Fundraiser on Thursday, July 2, beginning at 10:30 a.m. and continuing until sold out.
The fundraiser will be held at Bonifay City Hall, 301 N. J. Harvey Etheridge Street, Bonifay, Florida. Meals will be available for dine-in or carry-out, and delivery will be offered locally for orders of five or more.
For $15, supporters will receive a steak sandwich, chips and dessert.
The event is also recognizing Sabrina’s more than 30 years of service with the City of Bonifay.
Community members who would like additional information or place an order can contact organizers at 850-547-4238.
Officials are encouraging residents to attend, show their support and keep Sabrina and her family in their thoughts and prayers as she continues her fight against cancer.
