DECATUR, Ala. (WDNews) — If you were planning a road trip to one of Alabama’s biggest country music festivals this weekend, you may need to update your travel plans.
Rock the South organizers announced the festival has been postponed due to unprecedented rainfall across Alabama and will now take place Oct. 1-4 in Decatur.
According to organizers, the decision was made in coordination with the City of Decatur after recent weather conditions created concerns for the festival grounds and overall event experience.
The postponement comes with some good news for ticket holders. All previously announced headliners remain on the lineup, including Zach Top on Thursday, Oct. 1, Jason Aldean on Friday, Oct. 2, and Riley Green on Sunday, Oct. 4. Organizers also announced the festival will expand to four days, with Jessie Murph added as a headliner on Saturday, Oct. 3, at no additional cost to ticket holders.
Most scheduled artists are expected to perform on the revised dates, with updated daily lineups expected to be released in the coming weeks.
Festival officials said attendee safety was the top priority in making the decision.
“The safety of our festival attendees, artists, and staff is paramount, and we’re confident that the rescheduled dates will ensure an enjoyable festival experience for all,” organizers said in a statement.
Tickets and camping packages purchased for the original dates will be honored during the October festival. Organizers said purchasers will receive an email next week with information for those unable to attend the rescheduled event.
The announcement could affect thousands of fans who had already booked hotel rooms, campsites and travel arrangements for the weekend. Attendees are encouraged to check with lodging providers and monitor festival updates as October approaches.
