JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WDNews) — A Jackson County man has been arrested after a lengthy investigation into allegations of child sexual abuse.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began after the Florida Department of Children and Families received a report involving a juvenile victim.
As part of the investigation, a forensic interview was conducted at the Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center. During that interview, the child disclosed repeated incidents of inappropriate sexual contact.
Investigators said they obtained statements, reviewed evidence and developed corroborating information supporting the allegations.
Willis Franz McKinnie Sr., 76, was arrested and charged with lewd or lascivious molestation involving a victim under 12 years old.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center, the Florida Department of Children and Families and others who assisted in the investigation.
JCSO said victim advocates are available to provide support, guidance and help connect people affected by abuse with available resources.
