OZARK, Ala. (WDNews) — Community members will have an opportunity to learn how to recognize and respond to opioid overdoses during a free Narcan training session scheduled for Saturday, June 20.
According to organizers, the training will begin at 10 a.m. at the Ozark Civic Center. The event is being hosted by Mission: Worthy, with training provided by the ACOM Narcan Coalition.
The free community training is open to the public and does not require a medical background. Organizers say participants will learn how to recognize the signs of an overdose, properly administer Narcan nasal spray and provide assistance while waiting for emergency responders to arrive.
The event’s message is simple: “Save a life. Learn Narcan.”
Organizers note that overdoses can happen anywhere and encourage residents to be prepared to help neighbors, friends and family members in an emergency.
