TROY, Ala. (WDNews) — The Troy Police Department is now accepting applications for its upcoming Citizens Police Academy, offering residents a closer look at how the department operates.
The six-week course begins Thursday, March 26, and runs through April 30, 2026. Classes will be held each Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. inside the Troy Municipal Courtroom.
According to the department, the academy will cover the different divisions that make up the agency, including patrol, investigations, special operations and corrections. Participants will also learn about the resources and technology officers use in the field.
Enrollment opens Feb. 23 and closes March 6. Only 15 participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and a resident of Pike County.
Officials say the program is designed to strengthen community relationships and provide insight into daily law enforcement operations.
