ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDNews) — Sections of Daleville Avenue will be temporarily closed on weekdays over the next two weeks as part of the City of Enterprise’s ongoing waterline replacement project.
Closures are expected to begin each day around 8:30 a.m. and reopen by 2:30 p.m. before school dismissal. Detour signs and flagmen will be in place to direct traffic, with most vehicles rerouted onto Gundy Lane. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, slow down in work zones, and use caution while traveling in the area.
The temporary closures are part of a $2.9 million project announced in May to replace many of Enterprise’s outdated waterlines. Work will continue over the next year on multiple streets, including Airport Road, Kelly Street, Gilbert Street, Reese Avenue, Woodland Drive, and Daleville Avenue.
“Upgrading this infrastructure will reduce the risk of breaks and service interruptions and will provide reliable water service for the community well into the future,” city officials said.
The city added that the replacement project is being closely coordinated with resurfacing efforts. “By addressing underground lines first, the City of Enterprise can protect new pavement and avoid unnecessary costs to taxpayers,” officials said.
Since 2020, Enterprise has replaced more than 24 miles of waterlines, affecting about 1,800 service connections. The work represents an investment of more than $13.5 million.
