(WDNews) — Johnsonville, a food company based in Illinois, has announced a voluntary recall of approximately 22,672 pounds of its cheddar bratwurst. The recall was issued after it was discovered that the product may contain pieces of hard plastic.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the affected item is a 19-ounce vacuum-sealed tray package labeled “Johnsonville Brats Cheddar Bratwurst,” which includes five sausages. These products were produced on February 5, 2025, and can be identified by the package code B9FOD.
The FSIS has classified this as a Class I recall, which indicates a situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product could cause serious health issues.
The recalled bratwurst was shipped to retailers in the following states:
