BLOUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WDNews) — According to multiple reports, an Alabama podcaster and substitute teacher died Wednesday morning from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound as deputies attempted to serve arrest warrants related to child sex offense allegations.
Authorities identified the man as 58-year-old Richard Anthony Yuhas. Reports state deputies with the Blount County Sheriff’s Office arrived at his residence in Blountsville at approximately 9 a.m. to serve arrest warrants when the incident occurred. Officials said Yuhas died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to court documents cited in multiple reports, Yuhas had been charged with two counts of electronic solicitation of a child and two counts of clergy having sexual contact with a child.
The charging documents allege the investigation stemmed from an incident on June 19 involving a juvenile girl at an undisclosed church. The allegations had not been tested in court, and Yuhas did not enter a plea before his death.
According to multiple reports, Yuhas hosted the podcast Renewed Mindsets – Don’t Conform, Transform. The program was distributed across multiple major podcast and streaming platforms, where it focused on end-times prophecy, biblical warnings and Christian teachings. Because the podcast was available through several services, an overall follower or subscriber count could not be independently verified.
Multiple reports also identified Yuhas as a substitute teacher at a church.
It was reported that District Attorney Pamela Casey confirmed she approved an autopsy but said she could not release additional details because court proceedings were underway.
The investigation remains ongoing.
