DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) – A high-speed pursuit ended in a crash and critical injury late Friday night after a suspect allegedly attempted to evade an Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) trooper on Highway 431.
According to Dothan 911, ALEA Troopers requested emergency dispatch at approximately 11:51 p.m. for a critical injury wreck near the intersection of Denton Road and Flynn Road.
Reports suggest that the trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle. However, the driver, instead of stopping, allegedly accelerated and fled the scene.
The suspect continued southbound, turning onto Westgate Parkway and then onto Denton Road. As the vehicle neared Flynn Road, the suspect reportedly lost control, flipping the car off the roadway.
Dothan Fire, Pilcher Ambulance, and Dothan Police responded to the crash, with the suspect being transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
