Missing Man Found Dead in Birmingham; Investigation Underway

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WDNews) — Birmingham Police discovered the body of 31-year-old Deundray Cottrell on Saturday afternoon after he was reported missing on July 4.

Cottrell was last seen on foot in the South Eastlake community, prompting an active missing persons investigation. On Friday, officers found clothing items and surveillance footage suggesting Cottrell’s presence in the area. This led to an intensified search.

On July 6, officers located Cottrell’s body in the 7900 block of 5th Avenue South. Authorities have labeled the circumstances surrounding his disappearance as suspicious.

Police are seeking to speak with Julian Taylor Morris, believed to have been in a romantic relationship with Cottrell. Morris is described as a 31-year-old Black male, weighing 160 lbs. Anyone with information is urged to call 911.
