Dothan Man Arrested for Attempted Murder in Chilling Domestic Violence Case

Brantley Tolleson (43) of Dothan- Domestic Violence 1st Degree and Attempted Murder

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) – Brantley Lloyd Tolleson, 43, of Dothan, was arrested by police investigators on June 28, 2024, for Domestic Violence 1st degree and Attempted Murder following a harrowing incident on Cecily Street.

According to the Dothan Police Department, Tolleson forced his way into the victim’s residence by kicking down the front door after being locked out. Once inside, he pulled a handgun on the victim, pointed it at her, and pulled the trigger. Unbeknownst to Tolleson, the victim had previously unloaded the firearm before handing it to him.

The incident began with a verbal altercation between Tolleson and the victim, during which the victim asked him to leave. The victim provided Tolleson with his belongings, including the unloaded handgun, and then locked him out of the residence. Tolleson then kicked open the door, intending to steal the victim’s keys to prevent her from leaving. During the ensuing burglary, he pointed the gun at the victim and pulled the trigger, which thankfully did not fire due to being unloaded.

Police officers responded promptly to the call regarding a domestic disturbance and burglary. Upon arriving at the scene, they detained Tolleson, who later made incriminating statements indicating his intent to kill the victim.

Tolleson now faces charges of Domestic Violence 1st degree (Burglary 1st degree) and Attempted Murder. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are continuing to gather evidence and testimonies.
