NATIONAL (WDNews) – For the third consecutive day, CDK Global’s cyber outage has wreaked havoc on car dealerships across the U.S., leaving many unable to manage their operations effectively. The software management tools provided by CDK, used by 15,000 retail locations, remain largely inaccessible.

CDK spokesperson Lisa Finney explained that the company initially shut down most of its systems on Wednesday “out of an abundance of caution” to protect customers. While some systems were briefly restored later that day, they were promptly taken offline again following another cyberattack.

Dealerships are still grappling with significant disruptions as CDK works to resolve the issue. The company has not provided an estimated timeline for when the systems will be fully operational again.

Adding to the complexity, Bloomberg reports that CDK Global is facing a ransom demand of tens of millions of dollars. According to a source familiar with the situation, CDK intends to pay the ransom, although discussions are ongoing and plans may change.

As the outage continues, car dealerships across North America are left in limbo, awaiting a resolution that will allow them to resume normal operations.
