DALE COUNTY, Ala (WDNews) After an extensive manhunt spanning several days, deputies have apprehended and charged a man accused of sexual relations with a child under 10 years old in Dale County.

Dale County Sheriff Mason Bynum reported that on Friday, May 31, a Level Plains resident called to report witnessing Colt Bryan Lecuyer engaging in sexual contact with a child in the back of his vehicle. When deputies arrived, Lecuyer, a registered sex offender and federal supervised release inmate, fled the scene in his truck.

Later that day, an Auburn police officer found Lecuyer’s abandoned truck in a Walmart parking lot. While the vehicle was transported back to Dale County for evidence, Lecuyer was not located at the scene.

On Sunday, June 2, investigators received a tip that Lecuyer was on foot in the Tuskegee National Forest, near the Lee and Macon County line. Multiple units tracked Lecuyer for four miles and finally apprehended him in a wooded area off County Road 57 in Macon County.

Lecuyer is currently being held in the Macon County Jail. Dale County deputies are en route to transfer him to the Dale County Jail, where he faces charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.
