Stay Alert: Enterprise Reminds Citizens About Summer Solicitors

ENTERPRISE, Ala.(WDNews) – As summer kicks off, so do door-to-door sales. The City of Enterprise Revenue Department wants to remind residents and solicitors about the regulations in place. Before hitting the streets, all solicitors must obtain a business license from the Revenue Department located inside Enterprise City Hall.

The process includes filling out paperwork, paying a $150 fee, and obtaining a photo identification badge, which is non-transferable and valid for 90 days. Once expired, a new license must be purchased. Approved solicitors are permitted to work Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sales activities are prohibited on Sundays and city-recognized holidays.

“We want these solicitors to be easily recognizable and this badge will let our citizens know that this particular person and business are approved to be going door-to-door,” Chief Revenue Officer Laura Miller said. “This badge does not imply endorsement, but it lets our community know the solicitor has met the requirements to do business in Enterprise.”

Residents have the right to ask solicitors to leave their property at any time, and compliance is mandatory. Additionally, solicitors must respect “no soliciting” signs. Non-compliance can result in the termination of their license.

“It’s important to us that our citizens feel safe and understand the rules associated with solicitation,” Miller said. “Look for the city-issued badge and if you don’t see it, ask.”

The Enterprise Police Department keeps track of licensed solicitors, ensuring added security for residents. Certain groups, such as religious organizations, scouts, and school fundraisers, are exempt from needing a license. To verify if your organization needs a license, contact the Enterprise Revenue Department.

“Our office works closely with the Enterprise Police Department to ensure officers are aware of those approved to do business. If you have a question as to whether or not someone may be licensed, give our office a call at (334) 348-2656 and we can check for you.”

Stay informed and enjoy a safe summer!
