Dothan Rallies together for Young Cassie in her Battle with Cancer at Police Fundraiser

DOTHAN, Ala (WDNews) – The Dothan Police Department hosted a heartwarming fundraiser for Cassie Anderson, a young girl battling brain cancer, drawing an incredible turnout from the community. The event, held in support of Cassie and her family, showcased Dothan’s spirit of unity and compassion.

Cassie’s father, Corporal Ryan Anderson of the Dothan Police Department, expressed his gratitude in a heartfelt statement, emphasizing the profound impact of the community’s support on his family during this challenging time.

“These past few months have been very difficult on our family. No family is ready for the news that their child has cancer. Unfortunately, there are many families who have to endure the pain of fighting for their child’s life. We have been so fortunate to have the support of our family, the police department, and the community while Cassie receives the treatment she needs.

We want to thank everyone who came out to support our family from the bottom of our hearts. We simply cannot put into words the gratitude we have for the outpouring of support we have received. Please continue to pray for Cassie and our family while we work to get her healthy.” The Anderson Family

Lt. Scott Owens from the DPD announced that the fundraiser raised an impressive $26,289.95. He added that private donations continue to pour in, further aiding the Anderson family in their fight against Cassie’s illness.

The success of this event shows the strength and solidarity of the Dothan community in times of need.
