Alabama – (WDNews) Authorities have arrested 37 people in a sweeping human trafficking investigation spearheaded by the West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force. This extensive operation follows a series of coordinated efforts and events to tackle human trafficking in the region.

Reports say the investigation began on February 7th when Alabama Bureau of Investigation agents encountered a woman at a Tuscaloosa hotel who appeared to be a victim of human trafficking. Acting on a tip, the ABI called in the West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force.

Upon arriving on scene, Task Force members arrested 31-year-old Cedric Marquis Spencer Jr. from Tuscaloosa, charging him with first-degree human trafficking. Volunteers from Trafficking Hope provided immediate support to the victim, ensuring she received necessary medical care and assistance after the incident.

Further investigations linked to this initial arrest led to the apprehension of 23 additional suspects. This concerted effort underscores the commitment of local authorities to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable individuals in the community.
